Top leadership of India’s Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) convened in Kolkata to finalise a robust, technology-driven security architecture for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026.

The high-level joint meeting was attended by the Directors General of CRPF, BSF, CISF, SSB and ITBP, with the objective of ensuring free, fair and transparent elections where citizens can vote without fear or intimidation.

With the first phase of polling scheduled for April 23 across 152 constituencies, the meeting served as a final operational alignment for thousands of personnel deployed on the ground.

Following internal reviews, a landmark joint meeting was held at the 3rd Signal Centre, CRPF, Salt Lake. The session, initiated by IG CRPF (State Force Coordinator) Shri Salabh Mathur, brought together senior officials from CAPFs, West Bengal Police, and the Election Commission Police Advisor.

The leadership reviewed deployment of Quick Response Teams (QRTs), anti-sabotage checks and the Integrated Security Grid to handle potential disruptions in coordination with local police.

CISF Director General Shri Praveer Ranjan said the mission in West Bengal goes beyond routine security and is about safeguarding the sanctity of the ballot, calling personnel “guardians of democracy” and urging a unified “One Election Force” approach.

As the state moves towards the first phase of polling on April 23, supervisory officers have been tasked with leading from the front to ensure discipline, compliance with Election Commission of India guidelines, and preparedness in sensitive areas.
