Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, launched a scathing attack on the Congress and the INDIA alliance as the Women’s Reservation Bill failed to get the two-thirds majority. He stated that April 17 has become a dark day for the nation’s sisters and for democracy.

He noted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah had clarified—by providing factual responses to every apprehension raised by the opposition—that no injustice would be meted out to any state, nor would anyone suffer any loss. Despite this, the Congress and the INDIA bloc—afflicted by an anti-women mindset—have dealt a severe blow to the hopes of the nation’s sisters, daughters, and mothers by defeating the Women’s Reservation Bill.

In his statement, Chouhan asserted that today, it was not merely a bill that was defeated; rather, the dreams, aspirations, ambitions, and self-respect of crores of sisters have been wounded.

He stated that the Women’s Reservation Bill was a historic step towards ensuring women’s empowerment, their participation, and their decisive role in building a ‘Developed India’ (Viksit Bharat); however, the Congress and the INDIA alliance, driven by their narrow, anti-women, and opportunistic politics, have crushed this significant endeavor.

Chouhan remarked that during the ‘Amrit Kaal’ (Golden Era) of independence—at a time when the nation, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is advancing towards forging a ‘Developed India’ led by ‘Nari Shakti’ (women’s power)—the opposition has exposed its true mindset.

He stated that the ideology of the Congress and the INDIA bloc has always been to confine women, to cast doubts upon their capabilities, and to exclude them from the decision-making process. This is precisely why their true face stands exposed before the nation today.

He further added that this move by the Congress and the INDIA alliance is not merely political in nature, but is also socially extremely unfortunate and reprehensible. It constitutes a betrayal of the trust of those crores of sisters who aspired to witness their participation, their voices, and their rights within the democratic framework grow even stronger. By defeating the Women’s Reservation Bill, the opposition has conclusively proven that it has never been sincere regarding the upliftment, dignity, and empowerment of women.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that the mindset of the Congress and the ‘I.N.D.I.A.’ bloc appears to be, “Woman, you are merely the ‘weaker sex’.” In contrast, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi hold the firm conviction that ‘Nari Shakti’ (women’s power) is synonymous with ‘Rashtra Shakti’ (national power), and that the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the nation constitute the very bedrock of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

He asserted that by insulting the power of women, the opposition has driven the final nail into the coffin of their own politics.

Union Minister Chouhan declared that the sisters of this nation will not forget this insult. In the times to come, women themselves will step forward to deliver a resounding, democratic response to the Congress and the ‘I.N.D.I.A.’ alliance.

He emphasized that the vigilant sisters and daughters of the country will never forgive any political party that stands against the rights, dignity, and representation of women.

Chouhan affirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party will continue to work with unwavering commitment towards the dignity, safety, rights, and empowerment of women. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the campaign for women’s empowerment will gain even greater momentum, and the resolve to ensure that the nation’s women receive their rightful dignity, opportunities, and representation shall remain unshakable.
