Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India has received an invitation to join the Paris meeting. Led by the UK and France, leaders from more than 40 countries will be meeting in Paris to finalise early plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Randhir Jaiswal also said that India has welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, along with “every step that leads towards peace.”
The MEA spokesperson said that 2,361 Indian citizens have been evacuated from Iran since the conflict in West Asia began. 2,060 people were evacuated via Armenia, while 301 were evacuated via Azerbaijan. Over 1,000 are students. He also said that India helped evacuate a Bangladeshi, a Sri Lankan and a Guyanese national.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said several neighbouring countries have requested India to provide energy resources.
He said that there are existing agreements between Nepal and India, one between the Indian Oil Corporation and Nepal, under which petroleum products are supplied according to their needs without interruption.
Similarly, with Bhutan, there is an understanding and partnership, and energy products are being supplied to them.
