Rahul Gandhi flags off ‘Run for Ambedkar, Run for Constitution’ marathon in New Delhi

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi flagged off the ‘Run for Ambedkar, Run for the Constitution’ marathon in NewDelhi today. Thousands of people participated in the marathon to spread the message of Dr BR Ambedkar and the Constitution of the country.

Addressing the participants on the occasion, Rahul Gandhi said that Dr Ambedkar’s message was the message of the Constitution and if the Constitution was not there, the country would not exist in its present form. “Without the Constitution, what we call India would not exist,” he remarked.

The senior Congress leader said that people with the ideology of the RSS and the BJP want to destroy the ideas of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and the Constitution of India. “Whatever they say or do, their ultimate aim is to finish the Constitution”, he said, adding, “they don’t want that everyone should be treated at par in India”.

“Even when they bow before the statue of Dr Ambedkar, their ultimate aim remains the same – to destroy the Constitution”, he said, adding, “our aim is to protect and strengthen the Constitution, its ideals and its message”, he added.

Gandhi thanked all the participants who had come from different places to take part in the marathon and help spread the message of the Constitution while remembering Baba Saheb Ambedkar.

Several senior leaders, including chairman of the AICC Scheduled Castes Department Rajendra Pal Gautam, former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin, K. Raju, former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, Delhi Congress president Devendra Yadav, Deepender S. Hooda, LoP in Rajasthan Tika Ram Jully, MPs Tanuj Punia & Karamvir Boudh, former minister Mamata Bhupesh, and Rajkumar Verka, were also present at the event.
