President nominates former Deputy Chairman Harivansh to Rajya Sabha

President Droupadi Murmu has nominated former Deputy Chairman of the Upper House Harivansh as a Rajya Sabha member. The tenure of Harivansh as a member of the Upper Houses ended yesterday.

He has been nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha after the vacancy was created following the retirement of former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi. The Ministry of Home Affairs today issued a notification in this regard.

69 years old Harivansh born in Ballia and did his graduation in Econonmics from Banaras University. The two time Rajya Sabha MP is in the position of Deputy Chairman from 2018 after P J Kurien.

Harivansh nominated as the RS MP in 2014 from Janata Dal (United) Party.
