The Indian Army and the Border Roads Organisation, in close coordination with the District Administration and the District Disaster Management Authority, are ensuring the safe evacuation of stranded tourists from Lachen, Sikkim.

The tourists are being carefully transported along the route via Dongkya La, Shiv Mandir, Zero Point, Yumthang, and Lachung.

The evacuation of tourists from Lachen began this morning in a coordinated manner in batches to ensure smooth passage along the challenging terrain.

A temporary footbridge has been swiftly constructed at Tarum Chu yesterday, restoring critical connectivity after a road breach disrupted access to Lachen.
