ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), has earned a significant global milestone by securing its position in the QS World University Rankings 2026 for the subject area of Agriculture & Forestry. The institute has been placed in the 151-200 band, marking its first-ever appearance in the prestigious global rankings.
This achievement places IARI among a selected group of leading Indian institutions in this category, reinforcing its stature as a centre of excellence in agricultural education, research, extension, and innovation.
With a legacy spanning over 121 years, IARI has long been at the forefront of advancing agricultural science in India. Its contributions extend from foundational research to field-level applications, significantly impacting national priorities such as food security, climate-resilient agriculture, and sustainable farming systems.
Speaking on this remarkable achievement, Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-IARI, congratulated the institute and emphasized that its recognition in the QS World University Rankings 2026 is a proud moment for the entire IARI fraternity.
He noted that this accomplishment reflects the institute’s sustained commitment to excellence in agricultural research, education, and innovation, as well as its continued efforts to address both global and national challenges in agriculture.
