Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal today addressed the course participants of the National Defence College’s 66th cohort. The theme was ‘Boosting India’s Manufacturing Sector: Role of Government and Policy’. Participants from 29 friendly countries and the faculty of Defence College werepresent on the occasion.
Goyal emphasized on PM Narendra Modi ji’s mantra of speed, skill and scale driving India’s Aatmanirbhar Defence success. He also highlighted the 2026-27 budget allocation for the defence sector as the government’s commitment to building capacity by strengthening ‘Make In India’.
Highlighting the rise of India’s startup ecosystem in the defence and space sectors, the Minister underlined how this transformation is powered by the MSMEs that are integrating Indian innovation into global supply chains. He also focused on two strategic sectors of semiconductors and clean energy to further drive our self-reliance journey.
