MP Dr Ricky A.J. Syngkon, Passes Away at 54 Following Cardiac Arrest

Member of Parliament from the Shillong Parliamentary constituency, Dr Ricky A.J. Syngkon, passed away last evening after suffering a massive cardiac arrest. He was 54. Dr Syngkon, a prominent leader of the Voice of the People Party was widely regarded as a strong and articulate voice for Meghalaya in national politics.

According to the sources, the incident occurred while he was playing futsal at Mawiong, where he suddenly collapsed. He was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Dr Syngkon’s sudden demise has sent shockwaves across Meghalaya. Leaders and well-wishers have expressed deep condolences over the loss of a prominent public representative.

Condolences by Meghalaya CM and the decision to postpone tabling of the budget in the Meghalaya Assembly will be taken today.
