In the T20 World Cup Cricket, Co-hosts Sri Lanka will open their campaign against Ireland in Group B at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. The Lankans will be eager to return to winning ways after three successive losses to England and a disappointing T20I tri-series in Pakistan last year.

Ireland will aim to improve on their poor showing at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they failed to win any matches. Known as one of the strongest lower-ranked teams, Ireland has produced world-class performances in ICC tournaments and will hope to pull off major upsets against higher-ranked opponents.

In a group D match New Zealand beat Afganisthan by 5 wickets. Afghanisthan captain Rashid Khan won the toss and elected to bat. They scored 182 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, which chased down by Kiwis is just 17.5 overs lossing 5 wickets.

In another match Nepal is taking on England in a group C match.
