Baramati Plane Crash Updates: Black box of the ill-fated aircraft recovered, MoCA initiated investigation

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has ordered the investigation of Baramati Plane Crash which happened on 28 January, 2026 in Maharashtra’s Pune. All requisite response and investigative mechanisms were activated ensuring a thorough, transparent, and time-bound inquiry, according to the MoCA.

A team of three officers from AAIB, Delhi, and another team of three officers from the DGCA, Mumbai Regional Office, reached the crash site on 28 January.

The Director General, AAIB, G V G Yugandhar also arrived at the site the same day. The investigation is progressing expeditiously, and the black box of the ill-fated aircraft has been recovered.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) said, the investigation will complete within a defined timeframe, strictly in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and laid-down guidelines.

The investigation has been initiated in accordance with Rules 5 and 11 of the AAIB Rules, 2025.

On Wednesday, at around 8.45 AM a Learjet 45 aircraft (registration as VT-SSK) of VSR Ventures Pvt. Ltdcrashed during landing. All the 5 persons including the two crew died in the crash. On board Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was also killed in the incident.
