Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday, paticipated as a chief guest in a function of Animal Breed Registration Certificate programme at Pusa, New Delhi.
During the ceremony, Chouhan distributed cirtificates and awards to the scientists, institutions, farmers, and livestock breeders who have done excellent work in breed conservation.
Addressing the gathering Minister Chouhan said that livestock is a strong foundation of our lives and the rural economy. Our indigenous breeds are not only limited to milk production or agriculture, but they are also an integral part of our cultural heritage.
“The scientists of NDRI and ICAR, along with farmers and livestock breeders, are playing a significant role in preserving this invaluable legacy. I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all of them,” he added.
Dr M. L. Jat, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR; N. P. Gangwar, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD); and Dr Raghavendra Bhatta, Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences), ICAR were also present on the occasion.
