Cricket Australia named fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, along with big-hitter Tim David, in their provisional squad for the T20 World Cup in February, while expanding spin options to suit conditions in Sri Lanka and India.

Cummins, who has not played a T20I since June 2024, was rested from the final two Ashes games to manage back issues. The pacer will undergo final scans later this month to determine his participation in the World Cup.

The squad also includes surprise call-ups for left-arm spinners Matt Kuhnemann and Cooper Connolly. They join experienced leg-spinner Adam Zampa, with Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Short providing additional spin support.

Mitchell Marsh will lead Australia and will begin their World Cup campaign against Ireland on 11 February.
