The Republic Day parade this year will witness a unique display of military animals, adding a rare and striking dimension to the celebrations at Kartavya Path.
Preparing for the Republic Day parade, Indian Army personnel were seen marching in step at Kartavya Path in a cold blanket of dense morning fog today.
This year, Army dogs—often referred to as the Indian Army’s “silent warriors”—will be among the key attractions of the parade.
In addition, spectators will witness a rare spectacle as the Indian Army’s animal contingent marches on Kartavya Path for the first time, showcasing the crucial role of animals in military operations across challenging terrains.
The contingent will comprise two Bactrian camels, four Zanskar ponies, four birds of prey, ten indigenous breed Army dogs, and six currently serving military dogs.
Together, the display will reflect the Indian Army’s rich tradition, innovation, and growing emphasis on self-reliance.
