High-Speed Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Ready to Run: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said that Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will be started tentatively from 15th January 2026. Vaishnaw informed this while addressing a press conference at the Railway Bhawan in New Delhi today.

He said the train will be operated from Guwahati to Howrah in the initial phase. The train will start it’s journey in the evening from the origin station.

“The food will be available accordingly to the origin of the ride. If it starts from Guwahati then Assamese food and if it starts from Howrah then Bengali food will be served,” Vaishnaw added.

Answering a question on price, he said, the ticket will include the food. The rates will be definitely less compared to Flight to attract the passengers.

He said the rates will Rs 3600, Rs 3000 and Rs 2300 for first, second and third ACs respectively.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train was successfully completed high-speed trial with a speed of 180 kmph on the Kota-Nagda section recently.

The train is indigenously designed and manufactured by Indian Railways.

The final trial was conducted under the supervision of the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) on the Kota-Nagda section, during which the train achieved a maximum speed of 180 kmph,
