To celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage and the spirit of unity in diversity, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Department of Culture, through the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), organised a vibrant Classical and Folk Dance Evening titled “Desh Ke Rang, Nritya Ke Sang” at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary, Culture, B. M. Sharma said the programme was conceptualised to showcase a colourful mosaic of India’s diverse dance traditions by bringing together renowned and emerging artistes representing various classical and folk dance forms from across the country.
The cultural evening featured a captivating line-up of performances, including Vande Mataram by Aanya Sumit Verma, Bharatanatyam by Kavi Varshini S., Manipuri by J. Surmala, Geetru (Jammu folk) by Khajoor Singh and Party, Bachnagma (Kashmir folk) by Mudasir Maqbool and Party, Kathak by Priyanka Maurya, and Odissi by Raminder Khurana.
The performances mesmerised the audience with their grace, rhythm and expressive artistry, with Raminder Khurana’s Odissi performance receiving special applause.
Through the event, JKAACL reaffirmed its commitment to preserving and promoting traditional art forms, strengthening cultural harmony and providing a vibrant platform for artists to showcase their talent.
The programme was graced by Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Commissioner Secretary, Science and Technology Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhury, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti, and other senior officers.
A large gathering of art lovers, cultural enthusiasts, members of the general public and inmates of Old Age Home, Amphalla, witnessed the programme and appreciated the cultural extravaganza.
