Kiren Rijiju calls for Special Police units across states to protect North-Eastern People

Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju has emphasized for creating a Delhi-like special unit of Police for the North-Eastern Region in other states to ensure the protection of North-Eastern people.

The Minister expressed concern in connection with the incident of an attack on a Tripura student in Dehradun, in which he died later. Rijiju said that such attacks are detrimental to society.

The Minister said that the Uttarakhand government has taken strict action in the matter, and five accused were arrested who were allegedly involved in the assault case.

Recently a youth from Tripure, Angel Chakma was brutally attacked in Deharadun in a racial assult and succumbed to his serious injuries in hospital.

Today senior Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi also demanded the justice in a press conference.
