National Farmers’ Day is celebrated across nationwide, PM Modi pays tributes

National Farmers’ Day is being observed across the nation today. The day honours the contributions of farmers to the nation’s growth and development.

This day marks the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, renowned for his deep understanding of rural issues and unwavering advocacy for farmers’ welfare.

The day is observed to honour the country’s farmers’ unwavering dedication and recognise their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s progress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the former Prime Minister, on his birthday anniversary.

In a social media post, Modi said that Chaudhary Charan Singh dedicated his life to the welfare of the deprived sections of society as well as to the progress of agriculture and the prosperity of farmers.

The Prime Minister said, a grateful nation can never forget his contributions to nation-building.

Union Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also paid tributes to Chaudhary Charan Singh, on his birthday anniversary. He said, Chaudhary Charan Singh dedicated his entire life to the welfare of farmers and his ideas will always remain relevant in building a developed and self-reliant India.

On National Farmers’ Day, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Pralhad Joshi extended his heartfelt gratitude to the country’s annadatas.

In a social media post, Joshi said that their tireless hard work, resilience and dedication not only feed the nation but also strengthen the soul of the country. The Minister said, the nation remains forever grateful to its farmers, the true backbone of the country.

Recognizing the vital role of farmers, the government has taken several initiatives to support their socio-economic upliftment and ensure sustainable agricultural growth.

These programmes include the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana.

India’s agricultural sector, employing nearly half of the nation’s population, remains a cornerstone of the country’s economy and a key driver of nation-building.
