Sitharaman launches Polio Drive, Joins Plantation in Karnataka’s Vijayanagara

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is in Vijayanagara, Karnataka, where she participated in a plantation drive and launched a major polio vaccination campaign.

She took part in a plantation drive aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and community participation. Local officials and volunteers planted saplings, reinforcing the importance of greener and healthier surroundings as part of broader development efforts.

Following the plantation drive, the Finance Minister launched a major polio vaccination campaign in the district as part of National Immunization Day. The drive aims to immunize children under five years of age to sustain India’s polio-free status by administering oral polio doses at multiple centres across the region.
