Medinah Bus Collision: 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims feared Dead

At least 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims, including several from Hyderabad, are feared dead after their bus collided with a diesel tanker near Mufrihat on the route from Mecca to Madinah early today. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has asked senior state officials to verify the situation and coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Saudi Embassy for immediate support.

A control room has been set up at the Telangana Secretariat.

In a condolense message EAM Dr S Jaishankar wrote on X:

“Deeply shocked at the accident involving Indian nationals in Medinah, Saudi Arabia.

Our Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah are giving fullest support to Indian nationals and families affected by this accident.

Sincere condolences to the bereaved families. Pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
