In the first cricket test match, India were 37 for one wicket in their first innings against South Africa on Day one at Eden Gardens in  Kolkata. Earlier South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first, but the visitors were all out for 159 runs in their first innings in just 55 overs.

Indian bowlers dominated the innings with Jasprit Bumrah taking five wicket haul, while Mohammad Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each.

South Africa started well to score 57 runs in just 10 overs. But after the wicket of opener Ryan Rickelton wickets tumbled at regular intervals. Aiden Makaram remained top scorer for SA.

India also started badly to loss the pricewicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal at just 18 runs. KL Rahul and Washington Sunder remained not out, when both the umpires called stumps.
