Beauty Dung Dung scored for India, but it was negated by a late fourth-quarter goal by Japan’s Shiho Kobayakawa. In the other Super 4 stage match, China defeated South Korea 1-0, which turned out to be a boon for the Indian side, helping it advance to the final.
India had started the Super 4s stage with an impressive 4-2 win against South Korea, but faced a setback against China, who won 4-1 on Thursday in their second Super 4s clash. With that, China had assured themselves of a place in the final, leaving India, Korea and Japan fighting for the other slot on the final day of Super 4s action yesterday.
