The water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi has risen above the warning mark of 204.5 meters. It reached 205.24 meters as of 1 PM today. According to official sources, the increase in water level is attributed to the discharge of water from the Hathinikund Barrage.
In August this year, 257.7mm of rain has been recorded so far, which is above the monthly average of 233.1mm.
Delhi is witnessing good rain this season. Mahesh Palawat, vice president at Skymet, said, “We have had ample rains and consistent spells this year. May saw excess rain, and since then, each month has recorded surplus rain again. It has been a combination of active weather systems and a good monsoon.”
