The India Under-20 women’s national team secured qualification for the AFC Under-20 Women’s Asian Cup for the first time in 20 years on Sunday.

India qualified after defeating host Myanmar 1-0 in their final Group D encounter in Yangon.

Pooja scored the decisive goal as India finished on top of the group with seven points, earning a spot in the 2026 edition of the main tournament in Thailand.

The last time India qualified for the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup was in 2006. Following the achievement, the All India Football Federation announced a reward of USD 25,000 for the women’s team.
