Divya Deshmukh of India won the 2025 FIDE Women’s World Cup defeating compatriot Konery Humpy in a hard fought tie break. Both players recorded a remarkable 99% accuracy score. But the 19 years old won by 2.5-1.5.
Divya got emotional after winning the coveted final and rushed to hug her mother in tears.
With this incredible victory, she got the Grandmaster norm and secured a spot at the next Women’s Candidates Tournament.
Humpy also secured the spot in Candidates Tournament. China’s Tan Zhongyi beat her compatriot Grandmaster Lei Tingjie to get the ticket for the Candidates Tournament.
Both Divya and Humpy had defeted the Chinese playes in the semi-finals. It was all-India final which eventually Divya won.
