In a statement delivered during the United Nations Security Council Quarterly Open Debate on the Situation in the Middle East, India asserted that a ceasefire must be put in place and all hostages must be released.

Speaking at the debate on the Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, noted that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable paths to achieving these objectives.

He emphasized that intermittent pauses in hostilities are not enough to address the scale of humanitarian challenges confronting the region’s people.
