Rajyasabha to review Coastal Shipping Bill

On the third day of the month-long monsoon session of the Indian Parliament, the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) is set to take up the Coastal Shipping Bill, 2025 for consideration and passing.

The Bill seeks to consolidate and amend the law relating to the regulation of coastal shipping, promote coasting trade, and encourage domestic participation.

The National Sports Governance Bill, 2025 is to be introduced in the Lower House (Lok Sabha) of Parliament today. The Bill aims to provide for the development and promotion of sports, as well as welfare measures for sportspersons.

The National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 is also to be introduced in the House. The Bill seeks to amend the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022.

The Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024 will be taken up for consideration and passing. The Bill seeks to consolidate and amend the law relating to merchant shipping to ensure compliance with India’s obligations under maritime treaties and international instruments to which India is a party.
