A two-day Kisan Mela & Exhibition 2026, organized by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), was inaugurated today at the Serchhip Bazar Rooftop by District Deputy Commissioner Paul L. Khuma.
Addressing the event, Khuma urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural technologies, consult with experts, and work selflessly to produce healthy crops. The initiative aims to strengthen the ‘Research-Extension-Farmer’ linkage and boost local livelihoods.
The exhibition features 24 stalls set up by eight allied government departments and local entrepreneurs, showcasing agricultural products and new technologies. The event also offers free ‘Animal Health’ and ‘Plant Health’ clinics to the public.
A major highlight of the inaugural ceremony was the presentation of ‘Farmers Awards’ to the district’s top-performing farmers and highest paddy producers.
Additionally, Piler village was honoured with the ‘Most Self-Sufficient Village’ award. The Mela will conclude tomorrow.
