World leaders and international bodies have expressed strong views on the US-Iran temporary truce. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the pause but reiterated that there is “no military solution” and that diplomacy is the only path forward.

European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas urged all sides to “step back” and use the two-week window to return to formal negotiations.

While criticizing the initial US military actions, China and Russia have called for an immediate permanent ceasefire and the upholding of international law.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Wednesday that Australia has welcomed the ceasefire that was reached to negotiate a resolution to the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran.

Meanwhile India also has welcomed the ceasefire reached between the United States and Iran.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs expressed hope that it will lead to a lasting peace in West Asia and unimpeded freedom of navigation and global flow of commerce through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Ministry stated that India has continuously advocated de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy, which are essential to bring an early end to the ongoing conflict.

It added that the conflict has already caused immense suffering to people and disrupted global energy supply and trade networks.
