The Vice President of India and Chairman of Rajya Sabha, C.P. Radhakrishnan administered oath/affirmation on Monday in Rajya Sabha Chamber to nineteen newly elected/ re-elected Members namely Ramdas Bandu Athawale, Maya Chintaman Ivnate, Sharadchandra Pawar, Ramrao Sakharam Wadkute, Dr. Jyoti Nagnath Waghmare, Christopher Manickam, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, Constandine Ravindran, L. K. Sudhish, Dr. M. Thambidurai, Tiruchi Siva, Babul Supriya Baral, Dr. Menaka Guruswamy, Rajeev Kumar, Rukmini Mallik, Biswajit Sinha, Santrupt Mishra, Dilip Kumar Ray and Manmohan Samal.
Three Members took oath in Marathi, two in Hindi, six in Tamil, one in English, four in Bengali and three in Odia. Five Members are from the state of Maharashtra, six from Tamil Nadu, five from West Bengal and three from Odisha.
Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs; Jual Oram, Minister of Tribal Affairs; P. C. Mody, Secretary General of Rajya Sabha and other senior officials of the secretariat were also present on the occasion.
