Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today expressed concern over the prevailing situation in West Asia and called for an immediate ceasefire amid the ongoing tensions involving Iran, United States and Israel.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme in Jammu, the Chief Minister said that the escalating conflict is a matter of serious concern and stressed the need for de-escalation through dialogue and restraint.
He reiterated that a ceasefire is essential to prevent further loss of life and instability in the region.
Omar Abdullah also took a swipe at the US President over recent remarks made on social media, stating that the language used did not reflect the dignity and decorum expected from such a high office.
He said that statements made by leaders holding important positions should be measured and responsible.
The Chief Minister added that he had earlier also advocated for a ceasefire and expressed hope that the situation would soon stabilise with efforts towards peace gaining momentum.
