U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the nation today on the ongoing conflict in Iran, asserting that the United States has achieved “swift, decisive, overwhelming victories”, with core strategic objectives nearly completed.

Trump said the U.S. will conclude operations very quickly under Operation Epic Fury, warning that Iran will be hit extremely hard over the next two to three weeks.

He reiterated that Iran cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons, calling a nuclear-armed Iran “an intolerable threat”, noting it was “right at the doorstep” of developing one.

On the Strait of Hormuz, Trump stated that it was not essential for the U.S. and does not need it, referencing his earlier remark asking countries not supporting the U.S. in reopening the Strait to “get your own oil.” He added that recent gasoline price rises are short term, and the Strait will naturally reopen after the conflict ends.

Finally, Trump stressed that Iran has been essentially decimated, and that the hardest part of the operation is already complete.
