During the counting of donations from the donation boxes at the world-renowned Baba Baidyanath Temple, in Jharkhand, Pakistani currency was found and recovered alongside Indian currency.
On March 25th, when the temple’s donation boxes were opened, a single Pakistani banknote of 100 rupees was found. Following this incident, MP Nishikant Dubey has raised serious questions regarding the temple’s security arrangements.
At the Baba Baidyanath Temple—located in Deoghar, the ‘City of Mahadev’—officials and staff were left stunned during the counting of donations when currency from the neighboring nation of Pakistan was spotted amidst bundles of banknotes.
Although a total sum exceeding ₹32 lakhs was received in donations, the discovery of the Pakistani note has put security agencies on high alert.
The All India Teerth Purohit Mahasabha has also expressed deep concern over this issue. The Mahasabha’s Patron, Durlabh Mishra, stated that in his 65 years of experience, this is the first time he has heard of Pakistani currency being found within the temple premises.
He expressed apprehension that this could either be a donation from a devotee of Pakistani origin or an attempt by a terrorist organization to conduct reconnaissance on the temple.
The public believes that such a security lapse at a highly sensitive site like a temple could signal a major threat in the future. The discovery of this foreign currency within the precincts of Baba’s shrine has raised new questions concerning the faith and security of millions of devotees.
