VP Radhakrishnan presents Ramnath Goenka Journalism Awards in New Delhi

Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan attended the 20th Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards ceremony held in New Delhi today. During the event, he presented the prestigious awards to journalists and addressed the gathering.

Radhakrishnan emphasised the importance of ethical reporting, saying that true journalism must remain neutral, objective and committed to the larger interests of society.

The Vice President highlighted the crucial role of media in strengthening democracy by ensuring accountability and informed public discourse.

He said the Awards celebrate professional excellence and the enduring spirit of fearless and principled journalism. Vice President further stated that the event recognises the vital role of credible and responsible journalism in a democratic society.

He added that the awards mark two decades of honouring Ramnath Goenka’s legacy and continue to inspire journalists to maintain integrity and courage in their profession.

The Vice President also recalled Ramnath Goenka’s contribution to the field of journalism, including his interventions on issues related to the press during the Constituent Assembly.

He described Ramnath Goenka as a nationalist and a visionary who upheld the values of independent journalism.

He further expressed confidence that the contribution of Mr Goenka will continue to encourage high standards of journalism and uphold the principles of truth and public service.

The Ramnath Goenka Excellence Award Annual Event pays tribute to journalists from Print, Digital and Broadcast who maintain the highest standards of their profession.

Journalism Awards institute the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards. The Awards aim to celebrate excellence in journalism, recognise courage and commitment and showcase outstanding contributions and individuals every year.
