26th All India Police Lawn Tennis Championship Commences at R.K. Khanna Stadium

The 26th All India Police Lawn Tennis Championship 2025–26 commenced today at the R.K. Khanna Tennis Stadium, New Delhi. Organized by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the event was inaugurated Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister commended ITBP for the excellent organization of the event and observed that the All India Police Championships provide a vital platform to identify, nurture and showcase sporting talent within the police forces across the country.

Welcoming the Chief Guest and participants, Shatrujeet Kapur, Director General, ITBP, highlighted the Force’s consistent excellence in sports, particularly in lawn tennis.

He reiterated ITBP’s commitment to promoting a strong sporting culture and upholding high standards in the conduct of national-level events.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Sanjay Gunjyal, Additional Director General (HQs), ITBP, expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, participating teams, officials and organizers for their support and contribution towards the successful conduct of the event.

The championship has witnessed enthusiastic participation from 23 teams representing Central Armed Police Forces, State Police Forces and UT Police Forces, with 133 players competing in various categories, including Open Singles, Open Doubles, Veteran Singles and Veteran Doubles.

The five-day championship, being held from 24-28 March, will also feature ranking rounds culminating in medal events. The closing ceremony of the championship will be held on 28 March, 2026.
