In Uttar Pradesh, at least 4 people died, 12 were injured, and several others are feared to be trapped when the roof of a cold storage facility collapsed this afternoon in the Phaphamau area of the Prayagraj district. Teams of NDRF and SDRF are conducting the rescue and relief operation. 7 JCBs are on the spot to clear the debris.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He announced an ex gratia of 2 lakh rupees from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased, and the injured would be given 50 thousand rupees.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also announced financial assistance of 2 lakh rupees each for the families of the deceased and 50,000 rupees each for the injured. He has directed the local administration to provide immediate relief and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.
Meanwhile, the State government has formed a committee under the headship of ADM Finance, which will conduct its investigation in the next 48 hours and find the reasons behind the collapse of the roof of the cold storage facility.
