Vijay Vasanth, Lok Sabha MP from Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu has moved an adjournment motion, seeking a discussion on the plight of more than 1000 Indian fishermen from Kanyakumari and nearby districts who are stranded in Iran and other Gulf countries amid the ongoing US – Iran conflict.
The fishermen, who had travelled abroad for employment, are now in panic and facing severe hardship, with many struggling to access basic necessities such as food.
MP Vijay Vasanth urged the Indian government and the Ministry of External Affairs to take immediate steps to evacuate the stranded Indians and move them to safer locations, calling the situation a humanitarian crisis that requires urgent intervention.
