Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today met the President of the New Development Bank (NDB), Dilma Rousseff, in New Delhi. During the meeting, both sides discussed the deeper engagement between India’s private sector and NDB to mobilise private capital and the need for the bank to grow and develop while staying competitive.
Sitharaman said that by drawing on global best practices, expertise and technology, multilateral development banks can deliver innovative solutions not only in hard infrastructure but also in urban development and planning.
On the occasion, Rousseff commended the country’s vision of Viksit Bharat as a cornerstone for emerging economies. She emphasised that the New Developmental Bank is keen to support this vision and showcase India’s successful initiatives in areas such as transport system integration and healthcare.
