US President Donald Trump on Sunday downplayed the war-driven surge in global oil prices, describing it as a temporary inconvenience amid the ongoing US-led military campaign against Iran.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said short-term increases in oil prices “will drop rapidly when the destruction of the Iran nuclear threat is over” and called them “a very small price to pay for U.S.A., and World, Safety and Peace.”

He also wrote, “ONLY FOOLS WOULD THINK DIFFERENTLY!”

The remarks come as escalating strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran disrupt key shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, increasing volatility in global oil markets.
