CISF Celebrates 57th Raising Day, Amit Shah Participates as Chief Guest

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today addressed the 57th Raising Day Ceremony of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as the Chief Guest at Mundali, Odisha. On the occasion, the Minister laid the foundation stone for three residential complexes of CISF at Kamrup, Nashik and Sehore, to be built at a cost of ₹890 crore, and also inaugurated two residential complexes at Rajarhat and Delhi.

These infrastructure projects are aimed at strengthening housing facilities and welfare measures for CISF personnel and their families.

The ceremony was also attended by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Chief  Minister of Odisha  Mohan Charan Majhi, Home Secretary, Govind Mohan, Director General of CISF Praveer Ranjan, and several
other distinguished dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering,  Amit Shah said that, after 56 years since its establishment, CISF has risen from zero to the pinnacle in the field of industrial security, reflecting the dedication, professionalism, and bravery of its personnel.

He described CISF as a force synonymous with bravery, dedication and sacrifice, which has continuously evolved with time and embraced modern technologies while preserving its proud traditions. The Home Minister said that CISF today stands as a powerful shield safeguarding the nation’s economic and
strategic assets.

He stated that the vision of building a strong national economy and making India a global economic power cannot be realised without robust industrial development, and ensuring the security of critical infrastructure requires a dedicated nationallevel industrial security force.

The Home Minister said that CISF has continuously evolved with changing security challenges, embracing modern technology while preserving its proud traditions of courage, discipline and service. Today, the Force stands as a powerful shield safeguarding the nation’s economic and strategic assets.

Expanding responsibilities in national infrastructure security Amit Shah highlighted that CISF currently provides security to 361 vital installations across the country, including 71 airports, ensuring the safety of millions of passengers and critical infrastructure. He said that in the last 1 year, CISF has been entrusted with the security of many projects such as Kartavya Bhavan, Seva Teerth, Noida International Airport, Navi Mumbai Airport, Lengpui Airport, Jawaharpur Thermal Power Project, Bhakra Dam Project, and others.

He announced that the Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to entrust CISF with the responsibility of securing the country’s ports, significantly expanding its role in protecting India’s maritime infrastructure.

He emphasised that CISF is playing a catalytic role in achieving these national goals of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by ensuring the security of industries, infrastructure and institutions that are crucial for India’s economic growth.
Role in internal security and Anti-Naxal operations.

The Home Minister also highlighted the contribution of CISF personnel in Anti-Naxal operations, particularly in states such as Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.

He reiterated the Government’s resolve to make India free from Naxalism by 31 March 2026, stating that the dream of extremists to establish a “Red Corridor from Tirupati to Pashupatinath” will be completely defeated by India’s security forces.

Amit Shah noted that the sacrifices and dedication of CISF personnel have strengthened the country’s economic security. Over the past decades, the Force has earned 13,693 medals for gallantry and distinguished service, along with 9 President’s Distinguished Service Medals and two Best Battalion Trophies, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in every field.

Addressing the gathering, Praveer Ranjan, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s critical infrastructure and supporting India’s growth story. He stated that over the decades, the Central Industrial Security Force has evolved into a highly specialised and technology-driven security organisation, providing protection to some of the country’s most sensitive and strategically important installations.

Emphasising the Force’s expanding responsibilities; he noted that CISF continues to adapt to emerging security challenges through modernisation, enhanced training, and integration of advanced technologies.

The Director General highlighted that the Force is steadily moving towards becoming a “future-ready and battle-ready” organisation, with significant reforms undertaken in basic training, operational preparedness, and the adoption of new security technologies, including AI-enabled surveillance systems, counterdrone capabilities and smart command and control mechanisms.
