Assam Elections: Congress Releases First List of 42 Candidates

The Indian National Congress has released its first list of candidates in Assam, announcing names for 42 constituencies.

Senior Congress leadreGaurav Gogoi will contest from the Jorhat constituency, while Abduch Chovon Ali Sarkar has been fielded from Gauripur and Markline Marak from Goalpara West. Girish Baruah will contest from Bongaigaon and Mahananda Sarkar from Barpeta.

Nandita Das has been named as the candidate from Hajo–Sualkuchi, and Meera Borthakur will contest from Dispur.

With this announcement, the party has formally begun its election campaign in the state. More names are expected to be announced in the coming days as the party prepares for the upcoming elections.
