European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas described the killing of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in US-Israeli strikes as a defining moment in the country’s history.

Writing on X, she said the future is uncertain but suggested the event could open a path to a different Iran, one where people may have greater freedom to shape their country.

Kallas added that she is in contact with partners, including regional nations affected by Iran’s military actions, to explore practical steps for de-escalation.
