Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told a committee of lawmakers that she did not remember ever meeting the late sex-offender Jeffrey Epstein. Clinton said that she had no information to share about his criminal activities.

She delivered a closed-door deposition to the House of Representatives Oversight Committee in New York City on Thursday. Clinton characterised her knowledge of Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, as casual, describing her as an acquaintance.

Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, initially refused to testify before the committee, but relented when lawmakers moved to hold them in contempt of the legislature.

Hillary Clinton expressed confidence that her husband knew nothing of Epstein’s crimes when they were still in contact. Bill Clinton is scheduled to testify before the committee on Friday.
