Celebrating 60 years of dedicated service to the nation, the Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab Frontier, organized the ‘Bordermen Marathon – 2026’ in Amritsar. The theme was “Hand in Hand with Border Population”.

Aiming at BSF’s strong bond with communities residing in border areas, the competition was organized with commitment to national security and physical fitness as well.

The marathon featured three categories — Full Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.097 km), and 10K Run — duly recognized by the Athletics Federation of India. The event was ceremonially flagged off from Golden Gate, Amritsar, by Dr. Atul Fulzele, Inspector General, Punjab Frontier, in the presence of senior BSF officials and distinguished guests. The Half Marathon commenced from War Memorial, while the 10K run began from Lahori Mal village.

Aligning with the Fit India Movement, the marathon witnessed participation from over 7,500 runners across the country. Participants included civilians, armed forces personnel, police officers, youth from border areas, ex-servicemen and international athletes.

Comprehensive medical aid, hydration and refreshment facilities were arranged throughout the route to ensure participants’ safety and comfort. BSF personnel and local residents enthusiastically cheered the runners, creating an atmosphere of unity, motivation and national pride.

The event concluded with a grand ceremony at Joint Check Post Attari, where winners were felicitated with medals by the Chief Guest. The ceremony also featured a performance by the BSF Mahila Band and vibrant cultural presentations showcasing Punjab’s rich heritage.
