Shivraj Singh Chouhan addresses 64th convocation of ICAR-IARI

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan yesterday addressed  the 64th convocation of the  ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute in Pusa. 470 students, including 290 M.Sc./M. Tech. , 180 Ph.D. students , including 2 foreign students received their degrees upon successful completion of their master’s and doctoral programs.

Bhagirath Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Ram Nath Thakur, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Dr ML Jat, Secretary DARE and Director General, ICAR, and  Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-IARI were also prsent on the occasion.

Addressing the passed out students he said that every trade deal and free trade agreement in India has neither sold off farmland nor farmers, but rather strengthened the backbone of the country’s agriculture.

He stated bluntly that those who are spreading fear and rumors in the name of farmers, their entire so-called politics is based on lies. The truth is that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the interests of India’s farmers are and will remain fully protected.

He stated that all the agreements reached so far, whether with the European Union, other countries around the world, or the United States, have been made in the national interest, and the interests of India’s farmers have been prioritized.
The Union Minister said that some people create an atmosphere of lies and fear by raising slogans like “We have been looted, we have been ruined, the country has been sold,” but they cannot tolerate the strength and self-confidence of India’s farmers, and therefore they continue to lie and spread rumors.

The Graduate School, IARI, Delhi has the capacity in 26 disciplines of Master’s/Ph.D. UG programmes in B.Sc (Hons.) Agriculture is offered at IARI Assam and Jharkhand only.
