In a major success against cross-border narcotics smuggling, Border Security Forces (BSF) today busted upon a drone-assisted smuggling attempt along the International Border in Jammu Division, seizing more than 4 kilograms of heroin valued at over ₹20 crore, officials said.

The contraband was recovered during a joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and police in a forward village of the R S Pura sector. Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding a drone drop from across the border, security personnel launched a search operation in the area.

During the search, two packets containing heroin were recovered and subsequently seized. Officials confirmed that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the cross-border smuggling network.

The recovery comes a day after police arrested two persons in Kathua district in connection with another drone-dropping case near Nagri, leading to the seizure of 150 grams of heroin. The accused were reportedly in contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler through Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls.

Authorities said intensified surveillance along the border is continuing to thwart such attempts and dismantle narcotics networks operating through drone routes.
