Over 29,000 public EV charging stations installed in India: Minister

A total of over 29 thousand public Electric Vehicle charging stations have been installed in the country. Minister of State for Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma said this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.

He said the government has made an allocation of more than 912 crore rupees under the FAME-2, Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles, and two thousand crore rupees under the PM E-DRIVE schemes for the deployment of adequate public EV charging infrastructure across the country.

He said, under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, the Ministry issued operational guidelines for the deployment of EV Public Charging Stations last year, which provide the framework for the implementation of charging infrastructure projects.
