Washington Post publisher and CEO Will Lewis announced his departure days after the newspaper carried out widespread layoffs.
In a message to staff, Lewis said that difficult decisions had been made during his tenure to ensure the Post’s sustainable future and its ability to deliver high-quality, nonpartisan journalism.
The newspaper said Chief Financial Officer Jeff D’Onofrio will serve as acting publisher and CEO. Will Lewis was appointed to lead the Washington Post in 2023, succeeding Fred Ryan, who had served as publisher and CEO for nearly a decade.
