Thailand heads to the polls today after a turbulent two years that have seen three prime ministers, as reformist parties compete against conservatives who have repeatedly retained power.
No party is expected to win an outright majority, and analysts anticipate coalition negotiations will follow the election results.
Observers say the current conservative prime minister could potentially stay in office by forming an alliance with Pheu Thai, which is currently polling third.
Voters are also participating in a separate referendum, providing a measure of public opinion on constitutional reform in principle, though no specific amendments are on the ballot.
Pheu Thai Party’s prime ministerial candidate Yodchanan and Thailand’s People’s Party candidate Nattha-phong were among those casting their votes in the general election.
