In Goalpara district, the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council on Friday began a three-day Rabha Hasong Cultural Festival with a colourful programme. The event, being held for the fifth time at Rendu-Pendu Hachu in Makri, has created a festive atmosphere across the region.

The festival aims to promote and preserve the traditional culture and heritage of all communities living in the Rabha Hasong area. Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah formally inaugurated the event. A major highlight of the opening ceremony was the traditional Sathar dance performed together by 160 Rabha youths, which drew wide appreciation from the audience.
